Purity of the heart

Where Frodo ultimately failed to give up the ring, and Bilbo needed Gandalf’s help, Sam is the only one readily giving up the ring. Many of those in contact with the ring have good intentions, including Boromir, Galadriel and Gandalf. Not all of the had the wisdom to foresee likely outcomes of their involvement.

Jesus says in Matthew 5, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God”. We need all the help we can get to guard our hearts, for everything we do flows from it (Proverbs 4:23).
