Romans 15:4

When Gandalf searches for facts so he can be sure Frodo’s ring is the one ring, he spends a lot of time going through old manuscripts which is time consuming as they are not categorized, with different handwriting and in various languages… The goal of his research is to be able to confirm or deny that Frodo’s ring is the one ring.

In the Bible, Bildad (Job 8:8), Paul (Romans 15:4) and others acknowledge the importance to know what previous generations learned, so you are able to stand on their shoulders. At the bare minimum we can apply the morals of biblical stories in our own lives and situations. You can also seek out relevant stories when you are going through a hard time.
