Forbidden fruit
The eighth command, “Do not steal” means to not take things without the owner’s consent. When Merry and Pippin set off the Dragon fireworks at Bilbo’s birthday party, this was clearly not allowed, a so-called “forbidden fruit”.
The first forbidden fruit was, literally, the fruit that Adam and Eve ate of the one tree of which God explicitly forbade them to eat. When temptation comes, it will use reason, a question and/or lies to convince. However, even when we give in to temptation, there is forgiveness if we only ask.
Do you think it is hard to ask for forgiveness? If it is, why is that?
