Fasting
Hobbits normally eat six meals a day, so it was hard for Frodo and Sam to travel through Mordor with only lembas and a little water; by the time they had reached Mount Doom, all their supplies had run out. It was through their circumstances that Frodo and Sam ended up fasting.
Under the law in the Old Testament, fasting was required on the day of atonement, on the 10th day of the 7th month. Other than that, people could choose to fast, and Jesus started his ministry fasting. He tells us also how to behave when fasting, and though there is no requirement to fast these days, there can be reasons for you to want to fast.
Is there anything you would want to give up, in order to focus more on God?
