Trust

Do you remember the scene in Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, where Bilbo is struggling to let go of the ring? It is there that Gandalf tells him: trust me, like you did before.
Trust builds on previous experiences and continued faith.

In the Bible, Mark 5 tells two stories about trust, woven into one another: of Jairus whose daughter is dying, and of a woman with a serious health problem. Both of them don’t just hope, no: they trust that Jesus will heal.
